APHRODITE..... Aphrodite (born Gavin King) also known as A Zone or DJ Aphro, is a UK Jungle and Drum n’ Bass DJ/Producer commonly referred to as the "Godfather of Jungle". It all started way back in the summer of love '88' running an Acid House club called Aphrodite, the namesake has been with him since. DJ Aphrodite is behind Aphrodite Recordings which was inspired by that same club, 'Aphrodite'. Through various chance meetings with DJs Micky Finn and Claudio Giussani, Urban Shakedown was born. One of the oldest Drum n’ Bass producers, he largely contributed to and influenced the genre's current styles and techniques. Over the years Aphro's own Aphrodite Recordings and Urban Takeover, a joint label with Micky Finn followed. The musical progression to Drum n’ Bass was a natural step over the years through Hardcore and Jungle. His debut album was a self titled effort under V2 Recordings released September 1, 2000. The follow up was “Aftershock” which was again released under V2 Recordings on June 24, 2002, featuring artists such as Barrington Levy and Wildflower. The song “King of the Beats” was featured in the Psygnosis game Rollcage. DJ Aphrodite is known for playing out a good vibe that ranges from classics to upfront and exclusive dub plates. Aphro is invited to DJ in countries all over the world.
